It has long been our policy as a web design company, to fully inform our clients of all other associated costs. This page addresses that issue so you can know what else you will need in order to make our package work correctly.
Standard Subscription Package Costs and Needs:
We provide you with Hosting, software, and Long Term Technical Maintenance. You won't need any other ongoing costs except the following:
- A domain name. You can purchase this from GoDaddy.com for less than $10 per year.
- Marketing. You can choose to spend money on this, or to do it free, and the type of marketing you choose is entirely up to you. We'll provide you with instructions for marketing (included with your package), and it will only include the good tactics that actually work. There are lots of strategies to choose from, and many of them are free.
If you purchase a Do-It-Yourself package, you will need to provide your own hosting, and Long Term Maintenance. The items you will need are:
- A domain name. You can purchase this from GoDaddy.com for less than $10 per year.
- Web Hosting. It must be business class hosting with support for PHP and MySQL. Access to Fantastico is a plus, especially if you choose a Do It Yourself Kit. We recommend HostGator. You really can't find a better hosting deal if you have a tight budget, because they do not charge you a setup fee. Yes, that is an affiliate link, but we have extensive experience with many hosting companies, and this one has been the most reliable, and has offered very good support. Hosting of this type will cost you LESS than $10 per month.
- Marketing. You can choose to spend money on this, or to do it free, and the type of marketing you choose is entirely up to you. We'll provide you with instructions for marketing (included with your package), and it will only include the good tactics that actually work. There are lots of strategies to choose from, and many of them are free.
- Long Term Maintenance. Every site takes some updating, on a periodic basis - typically about once a year. You can choose to do this yourself (instructions are provided), or you can hire someone to do it. If you want to hire us, we'll be glad to work with you, but it is entirely your choice. This is just a normal cost of site ownership.
That is it! You do not need to pay for special software (if you need any software we'll tell you how to get it free), and you do not have to hire someone to keep your site going. The items listed above are all that you have to pay for besides paying us, unless you CHOOSE other options long term.
You cannot usually use free hosting - the sites require certain features in a hosting account that free hosting does not offer - at least not in a way that will actually perform the way you need it to and allow your site to grow.
Remember, this is not a game, or a hobby. It is a business.
- Your cost for the package is tax deductible.
- Your cost for a good domain name is tax deductible.
- Your monthly or yearly hosting expenses are tax deductible.
- Any ongoing maintenance or marketing fees you choose to pay are tax deductible.
- The money you put into it is an investment. Back it up with consistent work, and it will pay you back!
The time and money you put in are not gambling. They are an investment. Yes, there is risk, but we will give you every possible advantage that we can, to insure that you earn from your site.
