Problems With Replicated Websites
A replicated website is a site that is built, then redistributed to multiple site owners, for the purpose of helping them all get an instantly functional website. The idea is nice, sort of like the deli where you just go pick out the flavor you want and don't have to wait for a meal to cook. But there are problems that stop it from doing what the buyer thought it would do.
Website function is more than just having a website. There are several things that have to happen for it to work right, and one of the most important is that it has to get traffic. A well designed site will have multiple features that will all coordinate together to get a good amount of free traffic. A replicated site has barriers to most of these, which means that the only traffic it gets is traffic that is sent to it from the site owner personally ("Hey guys, look at my new site!"), or traffic that the site owner pays for (virtually always a losing proposition for an Ad supported site).
Problems include:
- Duplicate content. Because the site is identical to another site, search engines will not index it. This applies to ALL types of replicated sites, and is the biggest factor in stopping good traffic from building.
- If the site is a dynamic site which is hosted by someone else (their software creates it for you), you'll have no ability, or very limited ability to change it.
- Unpredictable coding - you may or may not be able to easily change a site that someone else creates, especially if you do not have design skills.
- Hidden links - some replicated sites have hidden links that secretly promote their websites.
- If you cannot change the site, you cannot trade links with other people.
- If your site is banned (not indexed), no one will want to put your link on their site. There goes another source of free ads, and indexing.
- In order to make the site work, you have to go through the site, page by page, and make it unique. This is STILL faster than building a site from scratch, but a heckuva lot harder than most sellers tell you it will be.
- Search Engine Optimization may be good, or bad, or impossible to do.
- Sites that automatically trawl the web for content and create dynamic pages cannot do a good job of building a quality site, because a computer cannot judge good writing quality - the site is trashy, indexes poorly, and gets very little traffic.

- Your site will be fully registerable with the search engines, so you can use any kind of free marketing, link trades, directory links, etc, that you want.
- You can create a Links page, or put traded links at the bottom of content pages. There are no restrictions to what you can create in it.
- You don't have to change a lot of fussy details in each page. Just paste the content in and create the page fresh.
- You have full control over Search Engine Optimization strategies.
- You have full control over the quality of the content in your site, because you choose it.
We could not create something that was completely pre-built, but we did the next best thing. This is the simplest way to get a great site that earns well, with the lowest cost involved.
