Terms of Use
Our terms of use are very liberal - because once you buy the package, you own the site, and you can use it as you choose. Due to our payment plan, we do have some limitations and restrictions on moving your site, short term.
We do use some third party software for your site, and that software is licensed by those entities - so you must abide by their terms (but they are not unreasonably restrictive).
Articles provided by us may have terms of use written on them, which you must also abide by - typically only that you leave author credits in place (this is a web standard).
Your website though, is your website. If you want to make changes long term, you can. If you want to add a shopping cart, go ahead. If you want to add other affiliate links, fine.
Sites hosted by us must meet our "family safe" criteria, and must not promote the sale or use of tobacco, alcohol, anything illegal or unethical, or anything which is harmful to families.
Our only restrictions on content are that we will not gather content for, nor knowingly provide service to, any entity which promotes anything which is inherently dishonest, or which is not family friendly. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone whom we feel violates our standards.
If you pay for a Do-it-Yourself kit, you can move your site, install multiple copies, etc.
If you purchase a subscription site plan, some restrictions apply:
- We will back up your site for you, but you will not get a copy of the backup within the first year. You will not have direct access to the Admin for the database. You may not install software to access it. After the first year, this limitation is removed.
- You may move your domain during the first year if you choose, but you will not own the full rights to the backup of the database file until you have paid for a full year of service. This means, if you move the site within the first year, you will have to rebuild it, you will not be able to use the database backup unless you pay an additional fee for it. We will not infringe on your copyrights, nor will we restrict your ability to copy anything from the server other than the database file.
We are not doing this to restrict ownership rights. Consider - We are offering you the chance to get hundreds of dollars worth of service, for a monthly fee. We have to protect ourselves from having people come in, pay for one month, get full site customization service and instructions, and then turn around and move the site. That would kill us financially, we cannot afford to do that!
We are offering every possible benefit to you, and we expect to have to partner with you to help your business succeed. We have no option but to institute some protections for ourselves, to make sure that our service is sustainable. If we did not, then unscrupulous people would destroy our ability to give good service to honest website owners. We have attempted to make these protections as unrestrictive as possible, and to give site owners good benefits in exchange.
Now, if you built your site in ANY other web builder, you could not move it at ALL unless you rebuilt it! They simply do not allow you to back up the site and move it. So the limitation we have put here is still less restrictive than our competition. If at the end of a year, you wish to move your site, we will promptly turn over a current backup file, and assist you politely with the transfer. It is YOUR site, and we want you to have the right to make choices about it.
